5 Spring DIY Crafts with Natural Materials at Nutchel

Spring DIY is a wonderful way to embrace the season of renewal, color and creativity – a perfect time to connect with nature through simple and fun craft projects. At Nutchel, surrounded by forests, blooming fields, and charming cabins, you’ll find all the inspiration (and materials!) you need to create meaningful moments using what nature offers. Whether you're traveling as a family or on a romantic getaway, these 5 easy spring DIY activities are ideal to reconnect, slow down, and spark your creativity.

1. Pressed Flower Lanterns – Let Spring Shine 🌸

Transform a simple glass jar into a magical lantern with just a few dried flowers and a bit of creativity. Start by picking fresh flowers during a peaceful forest walk around your cabin. Once home, press them between the pages of a heavy book. The following day, the flowers will be dry and ready to use.

Use transparent glue to carefully stick the dried flowers to the outside of a clean glass jar. You can create a pattern or just place them randomly. Once dry, add a tealight candle inside. The result? A charming handmade lantern that casts soft, floral shadows at night. Perfect for evenings on your terrace or inside your cosy cabin – a lovely way to begin your spring DIY journey.

2. Heart-Shaped Dried Flower Wreath – A Symbol of Spring Love 💖

Another wonderful spring DIY idea is to create a wreath – in the shape of a heart, for a little extra charm. This nature-inspired decoration is surprisingly easy to make. Cut a heart shape out of sturdy cardboard – for example, from recycled packaging. Then, cut out a smaller heart inside it to create a “frame” about 3–4 cm wide.

Collect a mix of dried flowers, leaves, and even small bits of moss or bark. Using white glue or a glue stick, decorate the cardboard frame by layering the dried flowers until the entire surface is covered. You can go for a symmetrical design or a wild natural mix – there’s no wrong way to do it!

Once finished, punch a small hole at the top and thread some twine through to hang it on your cabin door or inside your cosy cabin. By the way, did you know that each cabin has its own “creative cork wall”? Guests pin their crafts, activity ideas, and little treasures they found during their stay.

3. Thankful Spring Bouquet – A Bouquet with Meaning 🌷

This spring DIY is all about mindfulness, gratitude, and creativity. Head out on a small foraging mission and collect a handful of interesting twigs. Arrange them in the jar you will find in your Cosy cabin kitchen to create a natural bouquet – this will be your "Thankful Tree."

Cut small leaf or egg shapes from recycled paper or cardboard, then write something you’re grateful for on each one. Use twine or paper clips to hang them from the branches. As the tree fills with these little messages, it becomes not only a decoration, but also a beautiful reminder of all the good things in your life. You can also hang elements found in nature, such as acorns, small pine cones, and more.

This craft is especially lovely to do with children, but even adults enjoy it as a calming, reflective activity.

4. Painted Stones – Tiny Works of Art 🎨

If you’re looking for something fun, simple and tactile, this spring DIY project is a winner. While wandering around the Nutchel Forest Village, collect a few smooth pebbles or small stones. Back at your cabin or at the Cosy Chalet, unleash your imagination and paint them using markers or acrylic paints.

You can paint animals, symbols, mini landscapes, or even use them to tell a story – just like story stones! This activity is super kid-friendly, but adults often find it just as relaxing. Best of all: you don’t need to pack supplies – you can borrow markers and paint from the Cosy Chalet!

These decorated stones can be taken home as keepsakes, left around the domain to surprise others, or used as cute paperweights.

5. Leaf Memory Game – Nature’s Matching Fun 🍃

Turn a classic game into a fun spring-themed activity! For this nature-based spring DIY, gather a variety of tree leaves during your forest walks. Try to find pairs – two similar birch leaves, two oak leaves, two ferns, etc. Let them dry or press them for a more polished look.

Next, glue each leaf onto a piece of recycled cardboard or thick paper, creating a natural version of the “Memory” game. Once finished, shuffle the cards, place them face down, and challenge your family or friends to find the pairs.

Not only does this game sharpen your memory, but it’s also a great way to learn about the local flora while having fun.
